Job Functions of a Shift Leader

  • Oversee the activities of the servers and other dining room personnel
  • Maintain a good working environment
  • Ensure that all queries made by customers as well as by the staff are handled promptly and efficiently
  • Responsible for monitoring, training, and developing newly hired employees
  • Lead each staff by delegating duties, assigning tasks, and following up each staff regarding their tasks

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor
  • Follow proper sanitation and safety procedures and imposes these on the rest of the team

Minimum Qualifications of a Shift Leader

  • At least a high school diploma
  • A degree in Management or any course related to the industry is preferable but necessary (for example, if the shift leader is hired in the hotel industry, then it is advisable that he/she must posses a degree in Hotel Management.)
  • Must be at least 18 years old (or any age that the state considers as the age of majority)
  • Previous experience in the industry is preferred

  • Capable of multitasking and flourishing in a fast-paced environment
