What Is a Written Statement?
A written statement is the counterpart of a verbal statement in terms of how it is done or how information is conveyed. Verbal statements are often given when there are press conferences or releases or in public speaking. Famous personalities and politicians are known to give statements every now and then regarding certain matters. A written statement, on the other hand, is written by an entity on paper or digital media as a form of document that tells the information that they want to convey. But instead of doing press conferences, the information it wants to convey is stored and distributed to using different forms or print media, such as in newspaper articles, disclosure statements, mission statements, and many more. Written statements are also required in court where both the defendant and plaintiff write their side of the encounter in detail.
Written statements are often preferred over verbal statements when it comes to legal proceedings as they provide some sort of tangible evidence that can conveniently be used when the need arises. It can be used in instances when a certain product that is still under warranty needs to be repaired or replaced. The warranty card or statement that came with the product will serve as a proof if it is still covered or not. This just shows how useful written statements are.
