Why Are Inspection Reports Important?

Well, for the most basic part, an inspection report can be essential in how well the durability or integrity of some of your possessions may be, be it your car, your home, your appliances, and even your clothes. It can help you determine what is safe to use and what is falling apart (both literally and figuratively).

How Can It Be Helpful?

  • Your Car
    • If not properly maintained vehicles tend to degrade in terms of engine performance and wirings.
    • An inspection report on your car is most commonly done as you enter a mechanics shop. This is required so as to catalog any faults or flaws found in your vehicle.
  • Your House
    • We like to think of our homes as a fortress where we can live in peace, but similar to our misconceptions of our vehicles, this is simply not the case. Our houses are almost just as susceptible to being damaged.
    • Damages can be but not limited to
      • broken windows or walls from earthquakes,
      • faulty wiring,
      • collapsing roof,
      • plumbing issues, and
      • termites.
    • Making a Home Inspection Report is optional but is more preferred than leaving it as it is because it will allow for the proper maintenance and inspection of house functions.
  • Your Appliances
    • Inspection of household appliance can save you from being either electrocuted due to faulty wiring or stop a fire before it happens. This is so because no appliance is built to last indefinitely.
  • Your Clothes
    • We gotta look out for clothes that are starting to tear or are too small or are too big for personal usage; this would be embarrassing to wear.

Now, making an inspection report can be time-consuming, but take in mind that the reason for such a long process is to ensure that there are no errors or faults. Let us take as an example a simple vehicle checkup. In most cases, a vehicle checkup or inspection would take anywhere between a few hours to half a day, depending on the vehicle and how thorough you want to be. This is done so that the driver and the passenger or passengers are safe from problems such as a snipped brake line or a punctured fuel line, etc.

Whenever the mechanic is done inspecting the vehicle, it is required that they make a Handover Report with all the necessary information to the owner of the vehicle so as to allow for the owner to check for any signs of tampering.
