A fit note serves two purposes: It may either certify that you are healthy enough to go back to work or it will act as a suggestion when you can possibly go back to work after a period of being absent for work. It may either be issued directly by your doctor, or a hospital will issue the note if you have been confined due to an illness. A fit note may be handwritten by your doctor, but it’s now common to have a standardized printout from the clinic or medical institution that can be immediately signed by a health-care professional.
