What Is a Proposal Quotation?

A proposal quotation is a document that enumerates all the specific items of a project proposal such as

  • the actions to be performed in order to complete it,
  • the specific description of the results aimed for,
  • the specific items that are needed to be purchased or availed in order to complete the project, and
  • the specific persons assigned to oversee or perform per item of the proposal.

In a way, a proposal quotation is a combination of a project proposal and a quotation. This is usually sent in response to a formal request for a proposal quotation. The entity making the project plan would send a project proposal to a business or supplier in order for them to provide a list of specific items and their prices that are needed for the completion of all the aspects indicated in the project proposal.

How to Write a Proposal Quotation?

  • Remember to label your document with a label that fits its function.
  • Write your company’s letterhead after the label.
  • A proposal quotation is different from a regular quotation. It must provide an overview of the results aimed for. In other words, it must briefly describe the reason behind the proposal.
  • Then you may proceed with the enumeration of all the items that must be bought, procured, or availed from another entity, business, or supplier.
  • Beside each item, indicate the price you are willing to offer to your prospective customer.
  • At the bottom part of your proposal quotation, indicate the possible fees that may be added on top of the sum total for the items enumerated.
  • Affix your signature.

Difference between a Proposal and a Quotation

  • A quotation is merely a listing of prices, delivery method, and payment method that a business offers to their prospective buyer; whereas, a proposal contains not only the price estimations but also a detailed description of all the actions and materials that are needed for a project.
  • A quotation is concerned mainly on the budgeting while a proposal can also indicate
    • the persons to accomplish specific tasks,
    • the issue or problem that gave rise to the necessity of creating a proposal in the first place,
    • its detailed solution,
    • the feasible deadline for its completion, and
    • the costs of items of services or materials that are required for the execution of the proposal.
