What is a Learning Activity?

Learning activities are designed and used by teachers to create the conditions for learning relating to the objectives of the course the students are studying in. Learning activities are also created to make the learning more exciting and complex for students to challenge their analytical and problem-solving skills.

How to Make a Learning Activity Sheet

1. Decide What to Put in the Activity Sheet

The first thing you need to do is know the activity and information that you want to include on the activity sheet. Create an outline of what lesson you will include. Once you’ve done your outline, the next thing to do is to decide how you want to present the questions. For example, you may want to do it by making a word search puzzle or doing a multiple-choice, or doing a fill-in-the-blanks. Whatever you want to present the questions, make sure the students can easily answer the questions.

2. Design the Activity Sheet

Next, you need to design your worksheet on paper since you will be providing this to students for them to answer. To do this, you can use a word processing program on your computer, or you may opt to use a worksheet template such as the sample ones provided above.  If you choose to use a word processing program if you want to customize your design, make sure your activity sheet margins are set correctly to fit all details in the sheet. Choose fonts that are easy to read and choose colors that are attractive. Print a sample of the sheet to ensure that the colors you choose shows up nicely.

3. Add Embellishments

Add some clipart images to your worksheets to make them more attractive and engaging. You can find cliparts on the Internet.  Simply copy and paste the images onto your worksheet where you would like them to locate.

4. Print the Activity Sheets

Review your activity sheet to ensure you have included everything that you want. Make sure that everything in your worksheet will print out just the way you’ve outlined it. Make some adjustments to ensure that the activity sheet is suitable for printing.

5. Make Multiple Copies of the Activity Sheet

If the copy of the activity sheet that you just printed turns out fine, you will then make multiple copies of the worksheet for your students. Ensure you print enough copies for your students and you have extra copies just in case some copies may go missing.
