Where not everyone has good intentions, there may be some consequences to using your photographs without permission. For that reason, there are a lot of people who don’t want their images plastered all over without their permission. Before deciding to shoot with your camera and post it on social media, you have to make sure you’ll have everyone sign photographer release forms so there won’t be any objections.

The issue of privacy is one that concerns everyone, not just entertainment personalities. Through the years, there have been a lot of issues regarding stalking that not only hounded movie stars but private individuals and even kids as well. For children, the concern of pedophilia is even more serious in some parts of the world. There are a lot of sick individuals out there who do unspeakable things in ways unimaginable to normal people.
Recognizing the value of privacy, it has become normal procedure for schools to issue photographer or media release forms for parents to sign in allowing their kids’ photos, videos, and any form of media that show their faces to be published. This is to ensure that school publications that have pictures or videos with kids on it released to the public and social media will not be an issue with legal consequences due to parents not giving their consent.

By signing the photographer release forms, signatories waive their right to disapprove or object the use of their faces for the finished publication. For parents who need to sign for their kids, a minor release form should be signed since the parents are the ones who need to approve in behalf of their children. Photographer release forms are usually for those who are 18 and above and who are able to understand what they are signing for and responsible for their own actions. For photographers, videographers, and the like, the best possible approach when filming would be to bring photographer, media, minor and location release forms to avoid any unnecessary inconvenience. Consult a lawyer to go over the forms and let everyone concerned sign the forms before doing the filming or photography. It’s the only way to be sure.
