An essay is a written article about a certain subject matter. It conveys the writer’s positions of a topic and these are concertized through examples and explanations. But we should talk about the parts of an essay first and they are as follows:

  • The Introduction – the introduction is the part where you are trying t reel your readers in to the point or argument that you are trying to make.
  • The Body – this part contains the details of your introduction. It is where you can explain and make your points stronger and believable. This contains examples and any other information relevant to your topic.
  • The Conclusion – this is your essay’s last paragraph. It expresses some reminders and afterthought you want your readers to remember. It can also be your last chance of expressing your arguments.

Since I have enumerated the things that should go in an essay, let’s try to kill off that fear of writing by discussing some important tips.

  • Know the guidelines of your assignment. The first thing that you should really do is to be aware of what your teacher wants you to do and talk about. He or she might have only asked you to write in a certain number of words and you can probably only choose certain subjects that he or she has instructed. See our College Essay Examples for more guidelines.
  • Plan your ideas well. If you can do an outline on what goes into every paragraph, that will be helpful. This can have your ideas well-organized.
  • Research about your topic. I can’t stress this enough. The content of your essay relies on this, especially since you are expected to write formally and produce factual and scholarly articles. Especially if you are writing an essay to impress and get a scholarship, you may check our Scholarship Essay Examples for details.

Teachers sometimes make you do things you don’t normally like, such as exams, reports, presentations, term papers, thesis, dissertations, and essays. But you should’t hold that against them. What they have in mind is for their students to develop and be well-rounded. Plus, they use them to get to communicate and get to know you.

Communication is inescapable, you cannot do a day without expressing yourself. Writing is communicating. It is one way of making your ideas known. This should not be something that scares you. This should be seen as a very good way to express yourself. But there are times that getting scared and nervous just happens, especially when you are to write analysis essays. Check our Analysis Essay Examples for details. But just remember everything you have read and practice!
