What is a Recruitment Agency Agreement?

A recruitment agency agreement is a written legal document that defines the terms and conditions around the placement of a candidate in a job position of another company fit their qualifications and the compensation of the agency for successfully placing the candidate in a job.

There are a lot of benefits of having an agreement. The benefits are:

  • It will help recruitment agents do better decision-making
  • The recruiter and client both understand the scope of their responsibilities
  • Both parties know how long the engagement lasts
  • Fee-related information is defined clearly

Recruiters need to create agreement whenever they place a candidate successfully. If they choose not to agree, they can expect certain issues such as miscommunication of requirements and questions about timing.

FAQs

What percentage does a recruitment agency take?

It depends on how large a recruitment agency is but a general rule states the agencies charge between 10-30% of the base annual salary of the candidate’s first-year salary.

What do recruiters do in a day?

Recruiters’ main responsibilities that they do daily are conducting technical phone screens, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, preparing candidates for interviews, and collaborating with hiring managers.

When you’re done drafting the agreement and you’re about to print it to let the candidate sign it, make sure to review it first and check to see if there are any grammatical or spelling errors in it and ensure that all the information, especially the names of the parties, are accurate. Once you’ve printed the agreement, discuss it first with the candidate and mutually agree with the contents of the agreement before signing it.
