What is a site inspection checklist?

Site inspection, or job site inspection is a procedure to check the compliance of safety standards of working conditions out in the field work site. A site inspection won’t be complete without a checklist to help them keep track of all the areas that need to be inspected. Most site inspections are done on construction worksite although it is also an essential part of event planning especially if an event is held at a specific location.

How to Make a Site Inspection Checklist

Below are some examples of what a site inspection checklist consists of. The details to be input in the checklist must be specific since the checklist will be your basis for making a report from your inspection. These examples are usual inspection done in construction work:

  • Site details (Site names, location, contractors, site manager, number of people working on the site)
  • Project details (Client name, project manager, start and end date of the project.)
  • Site control practices: Verify what safety measures that the site has complied with. See if the site has a safety plan and environmental plan. Assess the personal safety equipment on the site if they are properly adhered to.
  • Site facilities: Check their facilities if they are clean and tidy and the hallways and pathways are free from obstruction. Check the equipment (such as cranes, air equipment, electrical equipment) if they are properly maintained and in good working condition. If there are any problems, point them out and recommend a solution to repair them right away.
  • Emergency action: Check the first aid equipment that the site has and the emergency procedures that the employees must follow. Check if everyone knows what actions to do in cases of emergencies and disasters.
  • Check all excavations and site scaffolding: assess the behaviors and strategies in places that present great risks to the safety of the employees. Check for any fall hazards on the site.

Record any more observations you’ve checked around the site that wasn’t mentioned above. Take note of all of this to be your reference in your site inspection.
