A presentation that is made up solely of words can be very boring. One way to spice up your presentation is by incorporating charts. Charts are graphic representation of data, especially if the data provided are all about large quantities of numbers. By adding or using a chart, the data can easily be understood and analyzed.
Aside from data charts, there are also organization charts that provide information about the people in a specific organization. Other charts are flow charts and pie charts. The chart samples that we have here include different kinds of charts for all your needs.

How to Make a Chart
Charts may look easy to make, but when you are at it, it feels like you can’t do anything. The challenging part in making charts is deciding what type of chart to use and how to choose and arrange the important data in it. But you should not fret over making a chart because we will provide you with simple and easy steps on how you can make a chart.
- Making a chart doesn’t always have to start with drawing the chart itself. That is what makes making it difficult. You have to first gather all the data that you need to present in your chart. This way you will know what to include and what not to include. This is also the first step in making Gantt charts and free charts.
- Based on the data that you have gathered, determine the type of chart that is best for it. Unless you use a suitable chart, your presentation will not be effective.
- Check previous reports of similar topics and get idea on what charts can be used.
- Draw the chart either by hand or by using a computer software on a computer.
- Label the parts appropriately and provide a legend.
- Double-check if all the data entered is correct.

How to Create a Chart in Excel
Charts are mostly done on the computer by using a computer program, like an Excel spreadsheet. The charts that can be made on the computer are sample organizational charts and sample chore charts, to name a few. Excel will make chart making fairly easy even if you are a beginner. It is just the same with making a chart manually by hand, with the exception of a few steps. Take time to check on the steps provided below.
- Gather all the needed data for your chart. Gathering data before making the chart makes the work easier. It can also save you time and avoid the need to make revisions because of missing data or using a wrong chart.
- After all the data has been gathered, turn on your computer and open a blank Excel file.
- Analyze the data that you gathered.
- Create a table using the blank Excel spreadsheet.
- Label the table with the necessary information based on the data you have on hand. Use a table format or design that you think will make your table look interesting and at the same time presentable.
- Fill in the table with the data. Add in the Excel formulas that you need for your computation. This will make your work even easier as the formula will automatically do the computation once you entered the data on the given cells.
- Once you’re happy with the table you created and the data you entered, it is now time to start making the chart. Select the cells that you want to include in the chart.
- Click the Insert tab and then select the Chart option.
- Select the type of chart that you want to make. Make sure it is appropriate for the data you have on hand.
- Your chart will then be displayed or inserted in the worksheet.
- Add a title and save your work.

Tips to Create an Impressive Chart
There are a lot of ways to make your chart effective but still look good. You can also make your chore charts and printable behavior charts look good. Just for you, we have gathered some tips on how you can make that chart impressive.
- The most impressive type of chart I know is one that is effective and easy to understand. No matter how wonderful your color scheme is or how gorgeous your animation is, it will not be impressive unless it is effective and accurate.
- Make sure that you have entered accurate data.
- Position chart legends in places that are not awkward to look at, like below the chart. Make your chart look clean at all times.
- Use colors that are good to look at. Avoid very bright colors that can distract the people looking at it. It’s safe to use the company’s trademark colors in your chart.
- Do not add a legend if you only have a single data to add. Come to think about it, there is no point in adding one when you are only referring to one thing.
- Use a layout and orientation that will not make people’s head tilt. It is inconvenient if you present your data in a way that makes people move their heads so as to be able to read the graph.

Why Are Charts Important?
Charts are often used on things that are related to gathering and presentation of data, or those things that require data to be shown visually. We looked for reasons why charts are important and we have come up with some of the reasons below.
- Using a chart in a presentation makes it easier for the people to understand and analyze the data being presented. While some people can understand data no matter what format, it is good if you put into consideration those people who have difficulty doing so.
- Graphics, images, and colors will brighten up the presentation. It is interesting to look at shapes and colors, instead of blocks of texts in a presentation.
- Your chart will tell the story or the details about something even if you don’t say much about it.
- A chart make it easy to see the patterns that are in a numerical data.
- A chart can make your presentation look inviting, which makes your audience gain interest in your presentation, especially if your presentation is about a theoretical topic like those in a behavior chart or time chart samples.
- An organizational chart displays information of the employees in a certain company, which is arranged based on their positions.
